Ultralight Pack Canoe Paddle
The SAGA Ultralight Pack Canoe Paddle is the product of over 10 years of testing and refinement. Our founder built a similar paddle in 2014 for use with his Hornbeck Classic 14 pack canoe. Over the following years, he made slight refinements and built additional paddles, settling on a design he has used unchanged ever since. This paddle updates the blade shape and design, increasing efficiency by moving more water per stroke than the original blades while remaining incredibly lightweight and enjoyable to paddle. While it could be used with a packraft, a kayak, or even a traditional solo canoe, it is perfectly balanced for short, light pack canoes. Pack canoes blend the seated paddling position of a kayak with the open experience of a canoe, and they are typically very lightweight. With the blade's logo facing you, paddling feels effortless; with the logo facing away, you can generate slightly more power at the cost of some minor flutter. These paddles use a thin 0.84" shaft to keep weight down and improve comfort. The shaft should be floated in the hand rather than grasped tightly, which reduces hot spots and hand fatigue and gives each stroke a relaxed feel.

Designed as an ultralight touring paddle, it is not intended for harsh conditions or rough handling like pushing off rocks or prying. Paddle it gently and it will last for years.
Every paddle is shaped by hand, one at a time. Small tool marks, minor surface voids, and natural variations in grain or finish are part of that process. They are not defects and do not affect strength or performance. They are what make your paddle one of a kind.
